Blog: Work in progress

This sleeve is the initiation of a much larger tailoring project that I am working on to further explore maille as a craft.
I'm bringing together a few interests in how a historical material can be used to recreate contemporary shaping, alongside a lot of contrasts: structure vs. slouch, formality vs. casual wear, purpose vs. fashion.

Studio Collab with Lucy Grubb, August 2025:

I visited Lucy's studio in Coventry after she spent time with artists at Free House in July 2025. Lucy's invitation included bringing along some work to explore shared language between her practice and that of her visitor's. I took The Dudley Dorito, which is about to feature in an exhibition curated by Lucy for Digbeth First Friday, however we also enjoyed playing with these vintage fridge magnets that I recently acquired, along with one of Lucy's landscape drawings and some features of the studio.
